This paper conducts the research with the socio-cultural approach, probing into Baidu tieba and Douban Group of British sitcoms, reports a research into online fandom of British sitcoms in China from the perspective of cross-culture. The researcher adopts an online ethnography, where online participatory observation and in-depth interview are applied. Using Spectacle/Performance paradigm to explore the tieba of Sherlock. The study found:Active audience use the network to consume sitcoms, fandom has taken shape and gather into online community, achieves demarcation and recognition through the contrast/recognition of our fandom and other fandom. In the cycle of spectacle/performance process, fans construct self-understandings of media text, doing consumption and production activities in a cross-cultural way. In this paper, the results can enrich the specific case of research on fans, has provided practical basis for cross-cultural audience researches whose aim is to study the reception of foreign TV playsChapter One serves as the introduction and begins with a literature review of the "media and cross-cultural reception study" researches and "fan culture" researches. The chapter concludes with a detailed discussion of the theoretical starting point, the research questions, the significance, the aims, the methodologies of the research. Entitled with "uses and gratifications of the fans of British sitcoms",Chapter Two describes the expanding policy, features and advantages of British sitcoms, and the reasons why fans watch British sitcoms. Chapter Three"formation and demarcation of fandom "elaborates watching channels and means of fans; and depicts and analyzes the formation and demarcation of fandom. Chapter Four "Spectacle/Performance:construction of self-understandings of fans" takes Spectacle/Performance paradigm, analyzes how fan construct self-understandings in Sherlock tieba.
