A Study Of New Chinese Loanwords

Since the reform and opening up, the cultural, economical and technological exchanges between China and foreign countries have become increasingly frequent.During the 21st century, the contact and comunication have been made much deeper and boarder by the globalization and the approach of the information, which results in the contact of diferent languages. This make the new loanwords become a part of our language and one’s life. Now china is experiencing the third wave of loans entering its vocabulary.The thesis consists of five chapters. Chaper 1 provides the definition of new words, and sum up the argument about the range of loanwords in the past. Under a new perspective we redefine the scope of the new loanwords; Chaper 2, we confine the Chinese loanwords in the new age (since reform and opening) as the main object of this study. And it makes a research on the new loanwords from aspects of etymology, semantics and parts of speech. Chaper 3 discusses the methods of Chinese borrow the new loanwords in detail, and priority explains the words characteristic. Chaper 4 discusses the influence on the vocabulary and briefly introduces the influence on modern Chinese pronunciation and grammar; Chaper 5 explains the new loanword problems and causes these existing in the middle applying in reality, revolves the normative principles and specific measures.
