"Lian Yun Series" Freehand Pottery Creation

As a unique cultural phenomenon in the world art history, Chinese impressionistic culture has a profound impact on Chinese traditioanal art. In addition, it has very important significance for the development of Chinese ceramic arts. Chinese traditional impressionistic culture is mainly reflected in Chinese traditional painting of flowers and birds. And the impressionism in the painting of flowers and birds can be combined with ceramic art excellently. This article mainly studies, from Ming Dynasty, the inflence that impressionistic painting has on Chinese traditional art culture, combination with ceramic art, and modeling of purple sand earthenware. Finally integrating impressionistic culture, from exterior form into spirit, I mainly talk about my ceramic creative work’series of lotus charm’. It uses the element of withered lotus refined from traditional painting of flowers and birds, and combines the characteristic of modeling of purple sand earthenware. Thus I integrate the artistic conception of impressionistic withered lotus into ceramic creation with the help of modeling features of purple sand earthenware, combining the conception with Chinese modern artistic creation. Through ceramic art language, the essence of the impressionistic Chinese painting is to be found. On the base of predesessors, carrying out innovation, we create ceramic art works with Chinese traditional culture. As was said by Luxun in an essay’Qiejieting’ for Exhibition of Soviet Union Engraving, impressionism has been in vogue in our painting since Song Dynasty.
