Application Of Forecasting And Waiting Strategies In Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting(SI) should be a well-organized activity integrating listening, memorizing and production as a whole. The efficient, professional and informative task overloads interpreters’ mind, so various interpreting skills and strategies are surely needed to help interpreters do their job better. Taking waiting and anticipation strategy as study object, this paper tries to reveal the importance and practicability of waiting and anticipation strategy in SI. Through the practical interpreting experience of 23 rd China Heilongjiang——African Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, the author analyzes and sums up several methods of anticipation and waiting specifically. And then some methods are summarized and several suggestions for improving the ability of interpreters and the quality of SI are proposed at the end of the paper.
