Walter Benjamin, a famous thinker of Germany, known as one of the greatest literary critics with the largest erudition in the 20th century. He stood at the turn of the century, gazing on the changes of the times with shape version, accurately predicting the inevitable trend of the historical development of the arrival of the age of mechanical reproduction. He conducted unique thoughts on the modern art by proposing a series of concepts, such as aura, schocker, erfahrung, fable and so on, analyzing all the changes from the traditional art to the modern art in the context of mechanical reproduction, as well as the fundamental changes caused by such social values. The profound analysis of Benjamin on modern literature art reveals all sorts of contradictions and dilemmas in front of Chinese society and culture. Exploring ways and means to address these issues plays an important role of enlightenment to achieve the healthy development of the popular culture of Chinese society.This paper will be divided into four parts so as to analyze and study the literary theory of Benjamin.Party Ⅰ:Based on the arrangement and definition of the concept of aura of Benjamin, this part analyzes the features of the traditional art in Benjamin theory, elaborating the disappearance of aura under the action of mechanical reproduction.Part Ⅱ:Starts from the elaboration of schocker, erfahrung, erlebnis and fable of Benjamin, discussing the features and connotation of modern art.Party Ⅲ:Analyzes the different attitudes of Benjamin and Adorno towards popular culture, analyzing the puzzles and lack of flourishing popular culture.Party Ⅳ:Analyzes the significance and value of the literary and artistic through of Benjamin on the study of Chinese literary theory as well as the construction and development of literary art.
