A Study On The Simplified Strategy Of Migrating Redundancy In Chinese And English

Translation is a transformation of information between two languages, it will be influenced by the language transfer. The interpreters will be interrupted by the expression of their source language. Therefore, the transfer redundant information from the source language will cause misunderstanding. That’s why the interpreters should simplify the redundant information on purpose. This paper mainly researches the simplifying strategy of transfer redundancy in the Chinese-English simultaneous interpretations. First, this paper will analyze the definition, classification and the cause of transfer redundancy, and will give some strategies which are applied to deal with different kinds of transfer redundancy, including summarizing, cutting redundancy and liberal translation. This paper studies the practical application of simplifying strategies in the simultaneous interpreting via surveying and analyzing the pre-translation texts and the site translation records of the two simultaneous interpreting meetings the writer has attended. This paper also references other videos of simultaneous interpreting and the Chinese-English interpreting practicing materials in and after class, which focuses on the simplifying strategies of transfer redundancy in Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting.
