Instructional design is acting as the fundamental way of achieving optimization in Chinese teaching and learning. The Boya Chinese is a set of authoritative and representative comprehensive Chinese teaching materials which is closely related to real life, reflect the social reality and take fully consideration into the characteristics when foreign students learning Chinese. The author chose 9th lesson called from "ancient" to "modern" in the intermediate section(I) in Boya Chinese as a case study, which pays close attention to some problems on the intermediate stage of comprehensive Chinese teaching process. Based on interactive teaching methods, the article comprehensively adopted the integrated usage of various teaching methods, such as situational method, comparative analysis and image-display method and so on to explain new words, grammar, and text and to conduct exercises upon them. In addition, the article is interspersed with classroom discussion dialogue exercises, classroom lectures and other activities in the teaching process in order to inspire every student to actively participate in classroom learning. The author hopes that this designed study can provide new ideas and references for people who are experiencing the intermediate stages of comprehensive Chinese teaching design.
