| Social interaction is one of the important social behavior of college students, but their mental functioning is not mature or stable enough, that always restricted they developing social activities normally. The author finds a large part of students have varying degrees of social disorder when working in universities. They may feel anxious when they are in social situations or avoid social situations, these problems affected their college life and academic achievement seriously. Although a lot of research has been done on social anxiety, but it is still one of the important problems in the college mental health education, there are still great deal of unknown to the researchers to develop constantly.In recent years, with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) prevalent abroad, it also attracted the attention of domestic scholars, its core objective is to improve the psychological flexibility(PF). This paper explores the relationship among core self-evaluation and psychological flexibility and social avoidance and distress(SAD). On this basis, developing a group counseling program which based on enhancing psychological flexibility, collecting college students who are with high level of SAD, dividing them into experimental group and control group, using the counseling program to train the experimental group, statistical analysis of the test results is taken after counseling and a tracking research is also done after one month.We hypothesized that psychological flexibility plays a mediating role between core self-evaluation and social avoidance and distress. The intervention of psychological flexibility could improve the college students’ social avoidance and distress. This paper consists of two researches.In study one, the results of analysis on the status quo of college students’ social avoidance and distress and the relationship among core self-evaluation, psychological flexibility and social avoidance and distress show that, in the SAD score, there is significant difference between grade, psychological flexibility plays a mediating role between core self-evaluation and social avoidance and distress.In study two, using the counseling program to train the experimental group, the results show that, the program could improve the students’ social avoidance and distress significantly, and so does the core self-evaluation one month later. |
