This paper takes the representative Thang-ga painting He Yuan as an example to explore the utilization of decorative language in Thang-ga. With a grand historical theme, the painting tells the story of Princess Wencheng, who sacrificed herself to marry the ruler of Tibetan ethnic minority in order to make peace with them. This project, which I participated in and help drew in the year 2012, was initiated by Qinghai Provincial Government and now the painting has become the treasure of Tibetan Cultural Industrial Park Museum in Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Hainan, Qinghai Province. The paper aims to study the use of decorative language in Thang-ga by applying the documentation analysis method, comprehensive analytical approach and fieldwork research method. The second chapter introduces the origin, development and innovation concerning Thang-ga.
