Zhou Zizhi is one of the lyrics poet of Nandu period in Song Dynasty. He has 156 poems which cover wide range from daily life to politics. Zhou is a poet with special writing style and unique writing theories. This article analyzes the art characteristics and writing styles of three typical categories of poems and the inherence and development of his poems, then points out the status and limitation in poem history. It consists of four parts:Chapter one analyzes the Zhou’s typical poems of love, journey and leisure, combined with the writing background in Nandu period, analyzes the characteristics of these poems.Chapter two concentrates on the rich themes and the great art skills of Zhou’s poems. He learned the best of other poems and created his own art style. He peruses the art state of Lao by forging the words and sentences; his poems are elegant and fluent; he combines the common and elegance together; he focuses on Ling poems with fresh style. In general, the art style of Zhou is diversified.Chapter three analyzes the origins where Zhou’s style comes from. He inherits the style of Yan Shu and Yan Jidao; he also learned the poetry skills from Su Shi and Huang Tingjian. Meanwhile, he learned from Jiangxi poetry but did not abide by it, within Jiangxi and beyond Jiangxi. He finally created his own writing style, and to some extents, boosted the elegance of Song poem.Chapter four discusses the state and limitation of Zhou’s poems. Zhou’s poems has certain meanings and values, this makes him a good poet of Nandu period. However, the thoughts and art skills also have apparent limitation.
