Nefertari is the most favored and famous queen of the nineteenth dynasty pharaoh Ramesess Ⅱ from the ancient Egypt. Whether the tomb of Queen Valley or the small grotto temple of Abu Simbel, make clear to all of Nefertari’s unique temperament and charm. This thesis attempted to start with the marriage between Nefertari and Ramesess Ⅱ, then analyzed the dual identity as a wife and queen, tried to restore the character in the historical context at that time, finally explored the powers and duties of the queen of ancient Egypt.The thesis can be divided into three chapters. The first chapter tried to elucidate that the marriage between Nefertari and Ramesess Ⅱ originated from political considerations by analyzing Ramesess family’s and Nefertari’s background. The second chapter analyzed Nefertari’s identity as the wife of Ramesess Ⅱ, trying to show the love between them. The last chapter analyzed Nefertari’s identity as the Mistress of Upper and Lower Egypt by describing myth theories from ancient Egypt, then introduced how she assisted the King of ancient Egypt in religious and political affairs.
