Doomsday is a repeated motif occurring in Oriental and Western literature. It signifies the ending of order, with a series of man-made or natural hazards. This text lists us part original myths of Doomsday around the world, expounding how the Doomsday motif evolves into early religion and become the classic religious stories. The Doomsday of Judaism and Christianity is combined with the special experiences of original Israelis and the other cultures nearby at that time, which include Zoroastrianism, ancient Egyptian myths, and the sufferings of Israelis before Chrisinity began.Carl Gustav Jung believe that myths were creative revelation of subconscious. They are active automatic expressions of the subconscious. Only rites and myths can touch the deepest part of our subconscious, combing consciousness of human and natural intuitions together. But the content of myths is objective. The figures or the things in the myths are the real existence during our daily life. The subconscious helps to choose the element to form the indication. Myths describe the sacred history, and convey the experience of the primitive human. During the whole evolutionary history, external and internal catastrophes have never ceased, thus we always face the threads of death.myths were creative revelations of the subconscious. They are active automatic expressions of the subconscious. Dreams and myths have the function of compensation and prediction. Prediction is a presupposition of future conscious, but the effect of prediction does not always come true. Which, produced and conveyed by consciousness, are placed upon the ego, consolidating and deepening constantly to the subconsciousness, so the conflict occurs. For prevent thus psychological imbalance, the subconsciousness continually create symbols, which could mend the consciousness. So the narration of Doomsday is a kind of Prediction and Compensation. Here are2innovations in the text. Firstly, in the comments of literature referred to Doomsday, most scholars rooted the motif in Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity and so on. But actually their sources are quite ancient. With respect to the Chinese Doomsday, most people believe that there was no such natural occurrences. Actually we just rarely find them in classic literature ruled by Confucianism. In this text I briefly trace the myths and philosophy of Taoism, including Flood stories. Taoism is based on the circle-universe opinion together with the opinion of Jie in Buddhism and Death Judge. So the conclusion in the Folklore in the Old Testament written by Fraser is biased. Moreover, the stories in the Bible like the Book of Zephaniah, the Book of Ezekiel and the demise of Sodom and Gomorrah is mixture of different culture nearby at that time.Secondly, the analysis of motif of Doomsday which came from traditional critics are always genealogical. They believe the motifs of Doomsday are based on our anxiety of death and destruction. But this text states-with the psychoanalysis theory of Carl Jung Gustav-this motif could heal our heart. We tell the stories of this motif generation over generation. It exists in literature, movies or even rumors. We need it, not only for it’s a non-rational narration of death and disaster we come across, but also a rational expression of being survivalists and psychological modulation.
