| As one of the most outstanding composers of Czech national music, Antonin Dvorak has close association with Slavic peoples through his life. His Slavic complex permeates his musics. Poetic Tone-Pictures for Piano is a piano suite composed in1889during his peak of creativity. With its thirteen unique, vigorous, and pure program musics, Poetic Tone-Pictures shows deep music colors of Eastern European Slavic peoples. Through analysis of performance skills and music styles of this piano suite, we reveal national characteristics in Dvorak’s music and how to grasp better performance of piano works by means of combining summary and case study. |
