A Study On The Phenomenon Of "No + Noun"

In recent years, there are a number of experts and scholars studying on the languagephenomenon of “Adverb+N” from various angles. But most people pay more attention to the“Degree adverb+N” structure, the study of negative adverbs modifying nouns is still rare. In thispaper, we set up a corpus including of “NO+NP” structure and take examples from the theories ofsemantics, syntax and pragmatics to study it. According to the study we find that the languagephenomenon of “NO+N” has existing since ancient times and the “No+NP” structure in modernChinese is a further development of it in the form. But its’ meaning and usage is distinct. It is aspecific language phenomenon, and this kind of language phenomenon will continue to exist in thefuture for a long time. The full text is divided into five chapters:ChapterⅠ: First of all, we make clear the research object of this article and define the “NO+N” phenomenon. Then, we briefly introduce the research status of “Adverb+N” phenomenon, theresearch status of “NO+N” phenomenon, the research method and the source of examples.ChapterⅡ: The“NO+N” structure is classified into three types: some words about theevolution of the ancient Chinese vocabulary; six kinds of special structure type which has beenwidely recognized and accepted in modern Chinese;“NO+NP” structure. And “NO+NP”structure is our emphasis.Chapter Ⅲ: we emphatically analyze the meaning and usage of “NO” in the “No+NP”structure. And comparing with the “NO” in the English, we find that they are similar in themeaning and usage. After that, discuss the scope, category and nature of the “noun” which entersinto the “NO+NP” structure.ChapterⅣ: weanalyze the “NO+NP” structure with three-dimensional grammar from thesyntax, semantics and pragmatics.ChapterⅤ: we focus on theforming reasons of the “NO+NP” structure with the interior andexterior of the language.The final conclusion part, we summarize the main content and ideas of this paper and putforward the unsolved problems and the direction of further research.
