The Beauty Of Barrier - A Study On The Screen Design Of Song Dynasty In China

Screen is China’s most ancient furniture and one of the indoor furniture furnishings beginning at Zhou dynasty.It has not made great progress in various aspects until Song dynasty. Taking the screen of Song dynasty as an important investigation object, the thesis makes a discovery from the ancient screen’s changing development and in Song dynasty, the design technology of the screen and intellectual significance has been particularly far-reaching. This paper, through collecting and clearing up the ancient archaeology, art, design and related literature, has made the level of manufacture and design of the screen in Song dynasty a relatively complete demonstration and tried to explore the ancient screen design thought which has inspiration and meaning in the contemporary design.The first chapter is about the general picture of research topic. The second chapter will investigate the screen in Song dynasty history, and the third chapter is the core content of this article, mainly exploring the key design elements, from the angle of the design type and shape of the screen in Song dynasty, summarizing its adornment, material and workmanship, and trying to sum up its position in the history of screen design.
