"This", "that" Non-statute Special Function Research

“This”and “that”are used not only frequently but also various and specially inmodern Chinese.However,the former were mostly study “this/that” ondemonstration and asymmetry from the point of demonstrative pronouns,notenough in-depth study on unconventional use of demonstrative pronouns.This thesisbased on the theory of structural linguistics and methods,makes systematical studyon“this/that”mainly as salutation、highlighting the degree、euphemism anddiscourse markers from the perspective of the syntax, the semantic,expression,pragmatic etc.In addition,we also define and distinguish "this/that" between phrase"this/that"from lexicalization "this/that",and detailed study their lexicalizationprocess and evolution.Excepting the introduction and the conclusion, there are fivesubjects in the paper as follows:Chapter One focuses on the study of the structure “zhe/nage1+the words ofPerson”,makes systematical and detailed study on the syntax,expression,pragmatic,asymmetry etc.Chapter Two focuses on the study of the structure "zhe/na ge1+V/A",which is acommon structure that highlights the degree meaning in modern Chinese especiallyin spoken language.This structure has a strong subjectivity and often associated withpersonal pronouns and exclamation words, not only highlights the focus of "V/A", butalso infuse the speakers subjective emotion and attitude.Chapter Three study on the euphemistic use of“nage1”,“nage1”mainly aseuphemism is used for the contexts that could not be expressed freely and be full ofspeaker’s motion and attitude,the pragmatic motivations is:generalization ofreference and strengthening pragmatic role after lexicalization andgrammaticalization.Chapter Four study on the discourse markers“zhe/nage2”,This chapter detailedanalysis of those discourse markers on the basis of predecessors and Contemporaryscholars,use discourse markers、meta-language、subjective and asymmetric theory, In addition,we also classify and interpret of those discourse markers’ discoursefunction.Chapter Five study on the dynamic of lexicalization process and evolutionprocessof “zhe/na ge".This paper firstly systematically and detailedly study on the unconventional usageof “zhe/na ge”,breaking the previous the limitations of the study “zhe/na ge”as aclassification of the demonstrative pronoun,study on the dynamic of lexicalizationprocess and evolutionprocess of “zhe/na ge",and use related theories to explainthe evolution,hope to promote the research and perfect on Chinese indicatingpronoun system.
