In analysing3million words of the native corpus and1,500,000interlanguage corpus, this paper establishes the sub-classification of the Numinal Predicate Sentence (NPS):â… . Noun1/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+Noun2, â…¡. Pronoun1/Noun Phrase+Pronoun2, â…¢. Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+Attribute-head Phrase (except the Numeral Noun Phrase), â…£a. Noun/Personal Pronoun/Numeral Noun Phrase+Numeral/Numeral (Noun) Phrase, IVb. Subject-predicate Phrase/Verb Phrase+Numeral (Noun) Phrase, â…¤. Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+"De" Phrase.On the basis of the determined classification, this paper analyzes the relationship between NPS and the "Shi" sentence:(1) Ⅰ’(Noun1/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+is+Noun2)â†'â…  (Noun1/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+Noun2),(2) Ⅱ’(Pronoun1/Noun Phrase+is+Pronoun2)â†'â…¡ (Pronoun1/Noun Phrase+Pronoun2),(3) Ⅲ’(Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+is+Attribute-head Phrase (except the Numeral Noun Phrase)â†'â…¢ (Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+Attribute-head Phrase (except the Numeral Noun Phrase),(4) â…£a’(Noun/Personal Pronoun/Noun Phrase+is+Numeral/Numeral (Noun) Phraseâ†'â…£a (Noun/Personal Pronoun/Noun Phrase+Numeral/Numeral (Noun) Phrase,(5) Ⅴ’(Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+is+"De" Phrase)â†'â…¤ (Noun/Pronoun/Noun Phrase+"De" Phrase). According to that relationship, the paper analyzes the restricted conditions of NPS and the conditions in which the "Shi" sentence can’t be transformed to NPS.The paper investigates the terms of foreign students learning NPS and finds that the characteristics of students’acquisition are:(1) The most frequently used sentence is sentence â…¢, followed by sentence â…£a and â… . Sentence â…¡, â…£b and â…¤ are rarely used. Besides, sentence â…  and â…¢sentence are overused.(2) Sentece â… , â…£a are mainly used in primary stage; in intermediate stage, sentence â…¢ becomes one of the mainly used sentences; in advanced stage, sentence â…  and IV appears correct examples.The error types of foreign students can be divided into two types:the error of NPS transforming the "Shi" sentence and the error of "Shi" sentence transforming NPS. And the first type is a typical one. The reasons of two errors are that students don’t know the conditions of NPS and the transformation between NPS and "Shi" sentence.On the basis of acquisition investigation, this article concludes the NPS’s acquisition sequence of foreign students:the interval â… :sentence â…£a, sentence â…¢ and â… . The internal sequence is:â…£a> â…¢>â… . Interval â…¡:sentence IVb, sentence â…¡ and sentence â…¤. The internal sequence is:â…£ b> â…¤> â…¡.Finally, this paper gives corresponding teaching suggestions about the second language teaching of NPS.
