On The Return Of "Original" In The Study Of Ancient Songs

The. ncient ballads in China was vast and diverse in subjects by which the richness and multidimensional nature of the spiritual life of ancient people was being showed. It was of great significance on the clarifying of the historical development of Chinese music. However, because of distant history, the heritages will inevitably lead to lost, scattered, misinformation in the process of dissemination, and lead to study inconvenience. The sheet music of ancient ballads rarely retained, in addition to word of mouth. the inheritance of the ballads mainly rely on the text passed to record lyrics. Later retention of ancient ballads, in addition seen in "Shi Jing "(The Book of Songs) the specialized collection of ancient ballads, there were many ballads scattered in all kinds of historical documents. There were also elected by the descendants cut from various classics compiled into a set or who circulated separately. In thousands of years passed, due to the detach from the original books, as well as the lack of a background story to contact the context of the original books, often appear distorted out of context and even completely misreading.Takes the Dan Song and Yue People’s Song as the examples, this thesis tries to research the attributes of the two songs. Taking their origins of the original texts as a starting point, combining with sociology, history and other related research in the explanation of its era background, a critical analysis of the various explanatory viewpoints that may not be real was performed, so as to accurately grasp the real meaning of works, and restore historical truth. Through this research, the methodology of how to properly implement the "return to the original texts" in music research was being discussed. Through this research, the following problems were explored:the main relationship between ancient ballad research and original texts investigation; the methodology of original texts investigation in ancient ballad research; at the same time, the author’s own viewpoints on the attributes of the Dan Song and the Yue People’s Song were put forward.
