At present, the status of cultural teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) has been recognized by more and more scholars. Culture has always been related with language. Culture is the connotation of language while language is a kind of expression of culture. In the field of TCFL, the importance of culture is greatly highlighted. It is necessary to master the internal culture of a second foreign language during the process of learning it so as to avoid misunderstandings in communication.However, there are various opinions on the definitions of cultural projects for TCFL. As a result, there is no unified culture syllabus to support the cultural teaching of TCFL. And this proposal will make a preliminary study on this issue from the view of cultural projects’selection of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper will choose cultural projects according to the three language levels of foreign students’Chinese:elementary level, intermediate level and advanced level. And each Chinese language level has cultural projects corresponding to it. These cultural projects are commonly used in cross-cultural communication and prone to cause cultural differences. Selection of them can help international students correctly use Chinese for communication and understand the cultural environment of Chinese. My paper can be regarded as an attempt to formulate the outline of culture on teaching Chinese as a foreign language and I hope it will be helpful on the establishment of the outline of culture.
