The Typological Significance Of The Study Of Nominal Phrases In Xixiang County Of Yixing

This is a study on nominal phrase in Yixing (Xi Xiang)Dialect from the sightof typology. Nominal phrase includes the single nouns and some other elementswhich acts like the single nouns in sentences. The function of single nouns isword-building rather than syntaxonly. Based on this situation, this thesis focuseson and demonstrates the syntactic category of nominal phrase of Yixing Dialect.In order to show the syntactic category of nominal phrase, we demonstrates fouroperational definitions including structure auxiliarys‘个’and ‘佬’，clauses ofrelativization、 demonstrative words and the article ‘个’.When structure auxiliary ‘个’is used between the modifier and noun phases, themodifiers will be consistent in the syntactic and semantic:‘个’ can be used as thestructure auxiliary when the nouns used as modifier act as possessive; stateadjectives in front of the nouns as modifier; and other state adjectives which expressspace、colour and station are used in the postposition declarative sentence. However,when the distinguishing words used as the modifier and the character adjectivesexpressing property and so on, then the ‘佬’will be the structure auxiliary. In certainsyntax,‘个、佬’ can play the funtion of nominalization when used after the modifiersalone or bounded.As to the clause of relativization，this paper starts from the relativization makersand explorers the types that exist in Yixing（Xixiang）Dialect.We also describe theclause which only use‘个’for the relativization maker and study the relationbetween‘个’and the predicates in clauses and main clauses. In addition, this chapertmakes descriptions and discussions about the existence and relativization makers ofpostposition clause of relativization in Yixing（Yixiang）Dialect.At the last part of this thesis we describe and analyze the system ofdemonstrative in Yixing Dialect based on the deictic category.The system ofdemonstrative has the function which can express things, person, time, mode and extent. This thesis distinguishes the difference of ‘个、乜’and‘个’. At last，after comprehending the syntax and semantic feature of ‘个’，the articlelizationof ‘一’、‘那’and measure word which express definiteness we keep thearticlelization of‘个’.
