The Study Of Nominal Phrases Of Xunzi

The nominal phrase is a kind of language that serves as the basic function in the syntactic structure,it is a major functional category of phrases.In this paper,Xunzi is used as corpus to describe and analyze the nominal phrases.This paper mainly includes four parts.The first part is introduction,which introduces the Xunzi's life and the spread and annotation of his work,defines the noun phrase,distinguishes noun phrase and nominal phrase,summarizes the predecessors' research results,expounds the research methods and significance of this paper.The second part gives a detailed description of the composition forms of the four major nominal phrases,such as the naming phrase,the non-nuclear noun phrase,coordinate phrase,and the appositive phrase.Qualitative analysis is made on the basis of quantitative statistics.The third part mainly analyzes the function of nominal phrases of Xunzi from two aspects,which is syntax and pragmatics.Investigating the whole syntactic function of nominal phrase of Xunzi and compared the difference of syntactic function between various nominal phrases.In terms of pragmatics,we analyze the situation of the topic of nominal phrase.In the fourth chapter,we makes a comprehensive study of the adverb that before the nominal phrase of xunzi,Analyzing the language environment of these adverbs and the grammatical relationship with the nominal phrase.
