Gender system is playing an important role in social culture and human life,"Equality of man and woman " has become an important symbol of the socialcivilization. After the three tides of the feminism in western country, the feminisminfluenced a number of thinkers and scholars in China and began its localization onthe bases of western feminism. The period from “Movement on the May4th”,theestablishment of People’s republic of China to the period of reform and opening-up inChina, the feminism in China develops tremendously. Following the practice of thewestern ideology and psychoanalysis. Nowadays, the feminism in China hasdeveloped significantly, but there still exist some ingrained problems.The film and the gender is usually related to one another tightly. With thefeminist thought going deep into each field of study, the film theory develop togetherwith the feminism, absorbing the contemporary theories of cultural criticism toprovide a new perspective on the bases of gender for the further development of thefilm theory.This paper follow the feminist film theory, and explore the female images ofFeng Xiaogang’s New Year blockbuster from the view point of the patriarchal cultureand male narrative perspective. Feng Xiaogang is one of the most successful filmdirectors in China today, women are defined as a specific type in his12the New Yearmovies and has never been able to escape the fate of objectivity, absence, andornamental. It is indicated that, governed by the main-stream of the ideology, thewoman is still at a vulnerable and appertaining position in a patriarchal society, andthe true liberation of the female has never happened, and the female is still at the hardstruggle with the patriarchy. Finally, we hope establish a woman’s own mode ofnarration and restore and present the ture woman in the movies.
