Known as eminent authoresses with abundant talents and distinctive styles in the contemporary literature history, Ding Ling, Xiao Hong and Zhang Ailing undeniably became a scene in the literature world, whose writings have been closely reading until now.Since the new period, literature research into these authoresses has been numerous and prolific. The studies related to female consciousness, problems and images have been conducted deeply and widely in their writings by the scholars who attached inclined emphasis on the discussion of female groups, whereas the studies of male images in their writings have not been paid enough attention and were obviously outnumbered in comparison with that of female images.In fact, male images are likewise the brainchildren of the writers'reflection on the world and life. The male images in their writings reflected both performance and personality connotation of the males in different historical stages from the perspective of the females. For those who were psychologically expressive, empathically understanding and characterized with female consciousness, the male world in their writings deserve same attention.To bridge the gap of lacking in studying the female images, the thesis is mainly intended to take the male images in the writings of such authoresses as Ding Ling, Xiao Hong and Zhang Ailing as its subject. By the method of discussing and disclosing the personalities and connotations of these female images, contrasting growth background and process of the three authoresses, the author in this thesis summarized the positioning difference and purposive keynote their writings, as well as contemplating, expecting and criticizing on the males from the females who serve as creative subject. Meanwhile, it revealed their cognitive process of the males and reflected the historical course of their increasingly independent and mature gender consciousness. The thesis is made up of five chapters. The male images in their writings stretching from May 4th Movement to the 1940s'were sorted out in chapter one, outlining their image features in the different periods. On the basis of studying the major writings of Ding Ling, Xiao Hong and Zhang Ailing respectively from chapter two to chapter four, the author made a classified analysis of different kinds of male images. In chapter five, the author concluded that the male images in the writings of the three contemporary authoresses are of great significance from such aspects as writing views on amphotericity because of personal growth environments, exclusive viewing perspective on male images and hidden female consciousness when it comes to writing the males.
