A National Psychological Counseling Center Ethnography

This dissertation is based on a six-month fieldwork in a private psycho-counseling center located in Beijing. I describe the organization and development of the center by participation and interview. What I focus on is the psyche world of the psychological consultant:the reason, individuation, and mysticism.The private psycho-counseling center is just under the way in China, the mass have a colorful imagination about it. To tell the reality of a private psycho-counseling center and the psyche world of the psychological counsultant is the basic of this dissertation. Although the reason world occupies the most psyche world of the Chinese, some people begin to explore the inner-self to realize the individuation raised by Jung. Besides the reason and individuation, the mysticism also occupies the psyche world of the psycho-consultant.Seeking the space for self, psychological consultant still complies with the Chinese tradition ethics and morals. A happy life is a balance among individuation, family and society.
