Objective: To measure the expression levels of Cyclin Y in rectal cancer tissues and normal rectal tissues, and analyze the correlation between Cyclin Y and rectal cancer as well as multiple clinicpathologic features. To investigate the abnormal expression and the clinical significance of Cyclin Y in rectal cancer tissues.Methods:72 patients who were operated radical resetion for rectal cancer were rolled in our investigantion. 30 normal rectal tissues were regarded as contrast taken from 5cm far away from these 72 tumor tissues. The expression of Cyclin Y was examined by immunohistochemistry method in normal rectal tissues of 30 cases, rectal cancer tissues of 72 cases. And the correlation between Cyclin Y and the disease as well as multiple clinicpathologic features of rectal cancer was analyzed by using multiple statistical methods such as chi-square test and kruskal-wallis test.Results:1 Cyclin Y is main expressed in membrane and plasma but negative expression in nucleus.2 there is higher expression of Cyclin Y in rectal cancer tissues than in normal rectal tissues, and the difference is statistically significant(χ~2=13.86,p<0.05).3 the copies of Cyclin Y in rectal cancer is related to TNM stage of the disease, and the higher stage, the more copies(χ~2=7.955,p<0.05).4 the expression level of Cyclin Y in rectal cancer tissues is higher in cases with lymph node metastases than those without(p<0.05). but There were no significant correlation between the expression level and gender, age, family history, tumor size and depth invasion(p>0.05).Conclusion : Over expression of Cyclin Y are detected in rectal cancer, there is significant correlation between the expression level of Cyclin Y in rectal cancer and TNM stage and lymph node metastases, maybe there is an important regulatory effect on the process of the rectal cancer development.
