Objective: In order to find more active compounds from this genus, the chemical constituents and their biological activity of the fruits of Cimicifuga yunnanensis were explored in present study. Methods: the compounds were isolated by using a variety of separation materials and methods from the methanol extract, and they were identified by the techniques of IR, UV, MS, NMR and several chemical methords. Then, the new compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity in vitro against human tumor HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7, and SW-480 cell lines through the method of MTS. In addition, compound 5, 6 and 16 were evaluated for the activity of the inhibition of Ach E.Resu lt s: 29 compounds were characterized in the fruits of Cimicifuga yunnanensis, and they contain 17 new compounds. The IC50 of compound 1 is 15.32 in the bioassay for the cytotoxicity and the rest of the new compounds’ IC50 are greater than 40. The inhibitory rates of compound 5, 6 and 16 are 15.89, 7.94, 23.40 for the activity of the inhibition of Ach E.Conclusion: 17 new compounds contain one triterpene alklaoid and four 9,19-cyclolanostane triterpenes which has the double bond(C16-C17) and so on. They enrich the species of triterpenes and provide valuable experience for the subsequent separation. Compound 1 shows weak cytotoxicity to A-549 cell line. compound 5 and 16 show weak activity for the activity of the inhibition of Ach E.
