Objective:By the research of "Connection of Treatise on Fevers and Miscellaneous disease"(here after referred to as "Huitong"), its author, background of compiling, and the main part, include the layout, the collating noting way and so on, the paper is aimed at seeking out the objective background and Huang’s subjective motivation to choose the new edition as his research object, and doing a detailed investigation on the main work of the book, so as to explore his academic thought in combination with it.Method:(1) Philology study methods. To settle "Huitong" as the research object, the paper will collect related documents in an all-round way from CNKI, Wanfang Standards Database and Vip Database, and then do an analysis and inductive research. (2) Statistical method. Input the number of the reference books and its distribution in each chapter to statistical analysis.Content:According to the test, Huang was born in 1885 and died in May 1960 in his 75-year-old. He made a contribution for collecting and sorting of Zhongjing’s papers, and he was good at acupuncture. Most of his work were lost, except "Textbook of Treatise on Fevers and Miscellaneous disease", "Commentary of Treatise on Fevers and Miscellaneous disease" and "Connection of Treatise on Fevers and Miscellaneous disease", three kinds in all. The book is closely related to the age and academic background, when Western medicine was introduced into China and research work on Zhongjing was relatively concentrated. Besides, changes on the ideas and methods to study "Treatise on Fevers and Miscellaneous disease", problems of Zhongjing’s work left over by the air and discovery of the new edition are seemed to be direct factors affecting the writing of the book. There are four reasons for Huang to write this book:He advocated Zhongjing’s theory; He attached great importance to the related literature collection and processing; He was focus on using different versions to emend Zhongjing’s test; He considered the new edition superior. To the arrangement of the book, first contrast the edition from the Song Dynasty, analyze the layout of "Treatise on Fevers and Miscellaneous disease" from Baiyun Pavilion; Then summarize the features of this book. In conclusion, the book based on the new edition takes in what it lacks from three different kinds of editions at a certain rule. About he collating, the book is mainly pointing out the derivatives and perversions by contrasting with other editions or books. Its characteristics is using a variety of medical books to collate. By the way, it rarely adopts the method of inferred proofreading. The annotation includes noting the words, analyzing the discourse, indicating the way of reading and explicating the medical knowledge. It interprets the words in the article, and explicating the medical knowledge by "proving it with itself" and "drawing an analogy". Its reference books are mostly wrote in the Song, Ming and Qing Dynasty, and there are 15 annotators cited from Qing Dynasty, which was the maximum among the three dynasty. The selecting of annotators has its own feature:lay emphasis on drawing analogy and cite annotation in multiple perspectives and levels. Conclusion:Due to the limitations of time, the work of Huang is inevitably defective:it took little count of identification of the new edition. Nevertheless, in order to deal with suspected problem and amend mistakes, Huang cleared up and amended the edition seriously and objectively, so his attitudes and practices is positive. The book, reflect Huang’s academic thought, has its certain characteristics in choreography, emendation, annotation and reference, and it deserves further study.
