Cerebral palsy (CP), refers to a syndrome caused by the progressive and permanent brain damage at the immature stage of development of the nervous system, its main characteristics is movement disorders. Reasons of brain damage would be prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum. The damage would be that the normal nervous system got damaged or nervous system got dysplastic itself during development.Morbidity of cerebral palsy in China is still a lack of accurate statistics, about 2 to 4‰ according to the epidemiology reports of all different districts. The main risk factors can be summarized as premature, dystocia, hypoxia, jaundice, diagnosis relies mainly on the history, signs and head CT, MRI and other imaging tests.Cerebral palsy usually happens with other symptoms, such as disorders of epilepsy, intelligence, vision, hearing, speaking and so on. Mental retardation, behavior and mood disorders may happened to older children patients. These complications make the survival disabled cerebral palsy patients’ quality more worse. so paying attention to and actively deal with these complications is great significant. The treatment of cerebral palsy should consist of internal medicine, surgery and rehabilitation medicine comprehensively and systematically, early intervention has great value of improving motor function of children.Traditional Chinese Medicine has also played a role in the field of cerebral palsy treatment, that many physicians recorded the cerebral palsy symptoms such as developmental delay, muscle spasticity, rigidity and collapse. In recent years, massage, acupuncture, medicine, acupuncture point injection therapy of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation with Vojta and Bobath rehabilitation theory combined with modern medicine research is more and more deep, achievements are be affirmed.Gradually as the incidence of poliomyelitis sequelae, cerebral palsy become the primary one of children physical disability diseases. The treatment, rehabilitation and nursing of cerebral palsy are heavy burden to patients’ family and society.Better motor function for children with cerebral palsy means a better outlook in life, so for the treatment of cerebral palsy and research is particularly important. Since the early 1990s, after selective posterior rhizotomy (SPR) being introduced into our country, a new path was opened up in the treatment of cerebral palsy, which attracted a large number of scholars engaged in research. Therefore, both clinical studies including surgical treatment, rehabilitation therapy and TCM treatment, and basic researches of cerebral palsy, including etiology, pathology, nerve electrophysiology, has been pushed into a booming period of rapid development. In the rapid development of more than 20 years, the scholars found that the SPR not only can be applied in spasm of cerebral palsy, but also can effectively remove spastic paraplegia, spasm caused by brain trauma sequelae or other reasons, and helped more patients. At the same time, scholars have made quite a lot of efforts on operation improvements, in order to further improve the therapeutic effect and reduce complications. In this paper, through researching, analyzing the clinical and basic research, summarizing and comparing research results of cerebral palsy in recent years, we systematically organized related research progress, for clinical workers refining clinical value and academic value and social value of clinical diagnosis and treatment thought. Based on cerebral palsy complication, exploring and thinking over the SPR technique improvement process, we thought that timely and effective treatment is very important for cerebral palsy complications,3 year-old to preschool is the best time to accept SPR. And we should consider the operation field, relieving spasm and spinal stability first in the SPR improvement.
