The advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) is a subject of Intelligent Transport System (ITS). The ATIS provide all kinds of information to the travelers who use all kinds of conveyances to destination. The study on Vehicle Dynamic Route Guidance Systems (VDRGS) is an important research in the field of ATIS, Which guide the travelers by providing them with optimal route based on real-time traffic information. As a result the travel time will be shorted and the traffic congestion reduced, meanwhile the environmental pollution will be alleviated. Firstly, the development of the vehicle dynamic route guidance systems in the world is introduced, then based on the prevailing condition in big city, the architecture of VDRGS is designed and explained. And the function includes (1) the positioning method, (2) how to obtain the real-time traffic information, (3) the data communication method, (4) the style of VRGS, (5) where to predict traffic information. Finally, the system frame is designed, which includes traffic information center, data communication and on –board navigation system. Meanwhile, the projects to realize the function of each module are discussed. The shortest route choice algorithm is an important research in VDRGS, and the object of VDRGS is the transportation flow which is involved in not only many indefinite and obscure elements but also real-time controlling transportation flow. So its intrinsic quality is how to coordinate the traveler, the vehicle and the road according to the rule of communication balance, and which is not simply the supreme mathematical method. The factors which the shortest route choice algorithm should have and which conforms to the modern science and technology are discussed after introducing the limitness of research method in the city communication, the advantage and disadvantage of the traditional dynamic and static mathematical method in the shortest route choice algorithm and advocating the communication guidance and communication controlling coordination. Finally, based on the self-organized capacity of ants, this paper place emphasis on describing a new distributed routing algorithm and presenting the VDGS guaranteed ant distributed routing algorithm (ADRA) for the problem of the quality of service in route networks. The algorithm can solve the problems of the delay and of the bandwidth allocation in parallel way so as to avoid NP-complete problem. The proposed algorithm is simple and easy to implement the problems, and it can efficiently solve the problem of load balancing in large route networks using the VDRGS. This simulate the network in real world with a calculation, and the result enunciate that the vehicle can adjust the path according to the network condition (the transportation flow, the transportation need, the speed etc.) as the ant looks for the food, attaining the transportation balance gradually.
