In the information age, information is our fortune. With ever-fast progress of globalization and intense international competition, intellectual property attracts more and more attention. Software piracy has been one of the factors inhibit the development of software industry in China. Actually, not just in China, software piracy has become the focus of the worldwide software industry. This thesis investigated the relationships among agents in the software consumption market in China in systemic science way, and then a software consumption system model was constructed. It also compared the characteristics of agents within the software consumption system, the behaviors of agents and their influence. Finally, individual agent models were constructed. The thesis focused on the role of government in the software consumption system and the imitative behaviors of consumers. The results suggested that policies such as increased median promotion on original software and subsidy for original software consumption could increase consumption of original software by public. Increased imitative behaviors amongst consumers also increased the population to use original copies.
