This paper is mainly about the development of a new power testing device of pumping oil-well. The new power testing instrument is an embeded computer application system. The MCU is the core, with data collection, input, display chip and other peripherial equipment, accomplish special function. On MCU selection, we choose the newly come into the market C8051F124 of Silicon Laboratiories company. The C8051F124 devices are fully integrated mixed-signal System-on-a-Chip MCU, with High-Speed piolined 8051-compatible CIP-51 microcontroller core (up to 50MIPS peak speed), 128k bytes of in-system programmable FLASH memory, make it is easy to accomplish many jobs that must use 16 or 32-bit MCUs. Plenty of on-chip peripherals, C8051F124 can make a true System-on-a-Chip System. On power testing method selection, we choose CS5460A of Cirrus logic. It has ±0.1% of energy data linearity reading over 1000:1 dynamic range, can accurately measure and calculate Real (True) Energy, Instantaneous Power, Irms and Vrms for single-phase 2- or 3-wire power metering applications. The data storage system use the 16M-bits DataFlash of ATMEL, and can store many well-testing result data. On display system, we use a wide-temperature LCD of 320*240 dots, suitable for outdoor bad circumtance use.On software development, we introduce the real-time embeded operating system μC/OS-II, and successfully migrate it to the C8051F124 based application system. The advantage of using an operating system is that we can divide the application system to many individual independent task, we can use semophore, Event flag group to synchronize between different tasks, use mailbox, message quene to communicate between tasks. Tasks have priority, tasks with higher priority can execute immediately when it can. The Application software is highly modulization, for example, the operating system and fundamental Input/Output modual is independent from other part, and can easily to transport to other applicaton system.
