Based on Master-Slave RS485-BUS network Remote Concentrated Metering System is introduced in this dissertation. With association of the public network especially the Public-Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), the system can realize the remote metering and remote controlling of multi-meter or multi-device. This technology can be used in Intelligent Community for the resource management and monitor of water, electricity, gas, and heat etc. It may also provide a reliable communication platform in industry production management.In this dissertation, the design and realization of data communication are described as the core of the Remote Concentrated Metering System, which includes Local Metering System , remote data communications and management software. The data sampler and concentrator make up the communication section designing based on RS485-BUS. This dissertation adopt PSTN to realize remote communication because of its' low-cost, practicality and easy to use.The dissertation consists of five chapters: chapter 1 describes briefly the remote metering system. In Chapter 2, several optional design solutions in native or aboard are discussed and one of them is adopted. Chapter 3 is the microprocessor and some chips which are very important in the system. The next chapter is the design of data sampler and data concentrator based on RS485-BUS, including the design of hardware and software. Chapter 5 mainly introduced the design and realization of the remote data communication. In this chapter, the course of data communication between supervisory computer and the concentrator with modem is described in detail, and the designing and realization about the remote metering software is also described.There is an open system designed in this dissertation. There are no problem to connect different devices and meters in one Metering System, because of adopting the unified standard and a protocol. The system solution in the dissertation makes the system flexibly and usefully in actual application.
