Along with the development of the digital imaging technology in medicine, the diagnosis of the medical image is more and more important in modern medical activities. And there is a great progress in the computer technology, storage medium and network technology in recent years, as well as the establishment of the standard DICOM 3.0(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine). Thereby, the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) is eventually produced and begins to develop. The development of PACS has started long time ago in foreign countries. And it has gradually tended to be mature. However, it only begins to study the PACS in China. And the exploratory and study is just the elementary stage yet. Nevertheless, the domestic hospitals demand the PACS very much, and the cost of using a foreign PACS is very high. That asks the research of the PACS to be faster. The realization and research of this paper is spread out under this kind of background. The research purpose of this paper is to satisfy social needs, break foreign technical monopoly, study the PACS, realize the partial PACS in radiation department and develop the medical image diagnosis working station system of a complete PACS. This paper introduces the PACS, studies the standard DICOM 3.0, analyses the format of a DICOM file and realizes the medical image diagnosis working station system.
