Currently, inter-domain routing protocol acting as the soul of the Internet has plenty of problems of robustness, and is becoming the choke point to restrict the more development of the Internet, such as route flapping, delayed convergence, BGP implementation flaw, lacking security mechanism and so on. The researches about robustness of inter-domain routing are hot research points of the Internet field.Robustness of inter-domain routing is the capability that the system can serve when it has been invaded or threatened. Moreover, protocol testing is an efficient means which ensures and improves the robustness of inter-domain routing system. Therefore, this thesis goes deep into research and implements the robustness testing technology of inter-domain routing protocol.This thesis provides the robustness testing method and content of inter-domain routing protocol by comprehensively analyzing the robustness problems of inter-domain system. Combining international and national protocol testing technology in existence, it presents robustness testing technique based on syntax and robustness testing technique based on performance of inter-domain, devises and actualizes the correlative testing tools Robust-BGP-Syntax and Robust-BGP-performance based on ANVL platform.Utilizing the Robust-BGP-Performance testing tool, this thesis tests the performance robustness of Zebra BGP-4 from the aspects of Route Capacity, Route Convergence, Flap Dampening and Multi-Homing. Utilizing the Robust-BGP-Syntax testing tool, applying two sorts of technologies, i.e., random input testing and faulty injection, it actualizes the syntax robustness testing of TCP/IP, and achieves the syntax robustness of Zebra BGP-4 by elaborating many test cases.Finally, this thesis describes the configuration setting of Robust-BGP-Syntax, analyses the test results particular, finds a series of robustness problems on Zebra BGP-4, and obtains a lot of technical details. Thereby, all these will provide a strong support for enhancing the robustness of the inter-domain routing system, and accumulates much invaluable experience for other protocol testing of the Internet.
