Image mosaic is an increasing popular study field. It has become a hot point of photo graphics, computer vision image dispose and computer graphics. Image mosaic deal the problem how to create a seamless and high quality image which has high resolution and big eyeshot compared with a single image through registry a series of overlap image.The article come from digitalize archive. Digital archive house means archive house on line It puts scan the paper archive into computer. But when the paper is bigger than scanner size, a bigger scanner is required and this means double money is necessary, so we have to scan a larger paper piece by piece. Manual image mosaic is hard to meet the requirement.This paper aims at pilot study on the concept and signification of image mosaic, and common methods and models of image mosaic. Moreover, it also reviews several conventional image mosaic methods. The main task of this paper is the research of document image mosaic method.First, we analyze the method based on WVD maximum intensity of binary document image horizontal projection, and de-skew the binary document image. The results of experiment show that the method solves the binary document image skewed problem efficiently and it has relatively precision.Second, we discuss image edge detection used in de-skewing color document. At the same time we present a improving arithmetic: we can get color document images page edge by Hough Transform. The results of experiment show that the method solves the color document image skewed problem efficiently and it has relatively high speed.Third, we study the optimization algorithm of document image registry. We present an efficient optimization algorithm that combines horizontal projection with image center of gravity; in binary document image we use black pixel toproject, while in color document image we use the features of image edge which we can get by Canny operator. It not only overcomes the problem of local extrema, but also improves the speed and precision of registry. The experimental results indicate the exact and rapid, robust merits of image registration by using above methods, which can meet well practical applied demands.The innovation of research is putting forward a new kind of image mosaic system that is: first de-skew document image, then register images. The experimental results indicate the exact and rapid which can meet well practical applied demands.Finally, the author concluded the work and give out some suggestions for further research.
