Research On Performance Test Of The Network Security Products

Based on the current network security situation, this paper described the function feature and similar performance characteristics of some network security products and pointed out the significance of the performance test of the network security products. Firstly it described the performance test index about the network security products simply, and studied the benchmarking index of network layer's security products , and then specified the test principle and test method of Throughput, Latency .Frame loss rate ,Back-to-back frames. The Concurrent TCP Connection performance test of the network security devices that working at 4-7 layer was the emphases of this paper. For the defect of the hardware test, the method of Concurrent Connection performance test using software simulation was provided .After the depiction of the development of software simulation test technology, the feasibility of using software simulation technology to test the Concurrent TCP Connections was analyzed. Then it made a deep study of the implementation procedure that using software simulation technology to test the network security device's Concurrent TCP Connections. This paper gave some methods to solve the capability of simulating software's Concurrent TCP Connections to meet the performance test requirement. The first method was increasing the capacity of kernel buffer via modified the WinPcap source code. The second way was pre-constructing the frame that to be sent. The third method was optimizing the storage structure of TCP connection state table. And then give a test plan that using the simulation software to test the concurrentTCP connections. Finally, it depicted the error analysis and forecast the performance test trends.
