Research in the area of speech recognition technology began in the early 1930s, but the technology did not become commercially feasible until recently. Today, the speech recognition technology is used in many industries and touches many aspects of our everyday lives. Automated telephone and banking systems, computer games, education software and dictation systems alike provide hands-free control and convenience.Ultrasound is sound that has a frequency above the audible range of man that is greater than 20kHz. In imaging the usual range of frequencies used is between 2 MHz to 10MHz. It is now widely used, especially in medical applications. Because ultrasonic examinations are non-invasive, cost effective and free of ion-radiation, the ultrasound imaging is one of the fastest growing image modalities. The demand of ultrasound machines is very big. Moreover, ultrasound instrument is a high-tech product and the capacity to make high quality ultrasound system may show the competency of a country's technology advantage.Diagnostic Ultrasound has been introduced in fifty years ago and this field is now growing fast on acoustic theory, the performance of instruments and also the clinical applications and examination methods. The evolution of the ultrasound systems comes from the original A-mode and M-mode to the popular 2-D grey-scale B-mode, Doppler color-mode and then to the real-time 3-D ultrasound.By combining the latest in speech recognition technologies and expertise in Ultrasound, Ultrasound software was developed to make scanning a much better experience for clinicians, sonographers and patients.
