Software reuse is one of the practical and feasible approaches that resolve software crisis at present. The development of component and component library is the premise of software reuse. Component library can manage reusable component availably, and now it has become the core of software development based on component. One of the key problems is how to retrieve components in the multi-library efficiently and accurately. The subject represented in this thesis stems from National 863 Project Subject "Research on software support system base on high performance wide-band communication network"(No. 2004AA116010). The thesis mainly researches on retrieval technologies in multi-library based on the unified faceted classification schema. By analyzing related background, research work and theories, in the thesis we research on the retrieval principle in multi-library based on the unified faceted classification schema, and design and realize the multi-library faceted retrieval prototype system. In the prototype system the faceted classification scheme that have been registered in the system are merged into the unified faceted classification schema by faceted classification schema merging process unit. Then the unified faceted classification schema is delivered to retrieval process unit. The users can create unified retrieval conditions according to the unified faceted classification schema. Retrieval process unit retrieves the components that match conditions in the registered multi-library. The core of the system is faceted classification schema merging process unit. The merging process unit is composed of register information management module, faceted classification schema management module and unified faceted classification schema management module. The goal of our subject is to help users to create unified retrieval conditions for retrieving components in multi-library in order to avoiding creating different retrieval conditions for the same requirement. Our research work is benefit to the improvementof component retrieval efficiency in multi-library, the sharing of resources in different component libraries and the improvement of shared component resource utilization.
