The development of society brings forward higher demand to identity verification. We used to verify identity by using password. However, with the development of society, the limitation of this verification technique is more and more obvious. Today, people are more attracted by the verification based on biologic feature. Because of the invariability and Convenience, the technique of fingerprint verification is more and more popular. To some extent, fingerprint verification has already become the pronoun of the biologic verification. We believe it has a nice feature. Traditional fingerprint verification is verifying the fingerprint based on the feature which is extracted from the preprocessing fingerprint image. This method is great depends on the local feature of the fingerprint and the quality of the fingerprint image and the image transform will greatly impact on the accuracy of verification system. Based on collection and analysis of a great number of papers about fingerprint recognition and classification, we bring forward a fingerprint verification system based on integrated template which combines the local feature and the grain feature around the minutia and makes a integrated template. In our system, the verification of fingerprint is a process of matching integrated template which is faster than the verification method only depend on fingercode and more accurate than the verification technique solely based on minutia matching. Experiment show our system can verify fingerprint efficiently and have academic and practical value. The first chapter is the preface which introduces the traditional technique of identity verification and biologic verification. The second chapter summarizes the history of fingerprint recognition and some classical fingerprint verification technique. The third chapter expatiates on the preprocessing algorithm of fingerprint image. The fourth chapter presents the minutia template making and matching algorithm. The fifth chapter introduces the integrated template making and matching algorithm. The sixth chapter summarizes the algorithm of our system and presents the experiment result. At last we make the conclusion and put forward the future work.
