The bistatic radar has the superiority over the conventional radar, and adaptive digital beamforming(ADBF) can meet radar on some special requirements. Two algorithms about ADBF and the detecting range of the Bistatic Radar based on radiant energy from commercial FM radio stations were studied in this thesis. The background and development of ADBF and the Bistatic Radar were introduced briefly at first. A kind of algorithm and architecture are described which have specific application to high performance, digital, adaptive beamforming. The function of such an adaptive combiner is formulated as a recursive least squares minimization operation and the corresponding weight vector is obtained by means of the Q-R decomposition algorithm using Givens rotations. Some problems about Capon ADBF were discussed: how to obtain weight vector by means of the Q-R decomposition; the affection of the mixing signal bandwidth. In the end, the relation of the Bistatic Radar and Radar Cross Section(RCS) was analyzed: analyze the relation of RCS and the detecting range of the bistatic radar; compute the isoline equation on the bistatic radar plane, and draw the RCS isoline according to real data.
