In this paper, we analyze a series of properties of solid-core Bragg fiber, including loss property and dispersion property. The results show that the losses are different between different modes of this fiber, and the loss of the fundament mode is least one. According to the mode properties of Bragg fiber, we present a kind of large solid-core Bragg fiber amplifier. Compared to the general fiber amplifiers, our design is special for the large solid core, light confinement in the core and TE01 fundament mode. This design can improve the efficiency and the power of fiber amplifier, and can be used in Bragg fiber communication. The main contents are as follows:1. The guiding mechanisms, mode properties and experiment progress of Bragg fiber have been reviewed in detail.2. The main three analysis methods of Bragg fiber have been introduced.3. The loss and dispersion properties of Bragg fiber have been analyzed in detail.4. By using the mode filter property of solid-core Bragg fiber, we present a kind of large solid-core Bragg fiber amplifier, and show that the design can improve the efficiency and the power of fiber amplifier, and can be used in Bragg fiber communication.
