Future wireless communication systems demand for higher communication quality and data rate, which makes people develop more effective technology of coding, modem, and signal process to improve quality and spectrum efficiency. The technique of space-time coding has been advancing drastically in recent years. It combines the technique of channel coding and array diversity and can increase the information capacity and data rate of wireless communication systems without the loss of bandwidth, also it can improve the bandwidth efficiency of traditional single-antenna systems. This technique is intended to provide new solutions to the problem of limited bandwidth.The main points are as follows:1. Introduce the wireless fading channel model and transmit diversity technique which has consanguineous relationship to space-time coding technique, the model of space-time coding system is given out and the performance of different coding methods are compared;2. Review several encoding methods for layered space-time codes and present an improved decoding algorithm based on the old decoding algorithm, last compare the performance of them through performance simulations;3. Study the encoding and decoding algorithms of orthogonal and quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes in detail, consider the decoding algorithm of quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes are a little complex, we use linear decoding algorithm to reduce the decoding complexity;4. Present a new scheme of combine complex-rotary codes and space-time codes to improve the performance of systems based on the lack of encoding plus of space-time coding technique.
