Wavelet analysis is a modern subject and has been quickly developed. Because its excellent characteristic of localizing both in time and frequency field, Wavelet analysis is very significant in theory and application. Wavelet analysis has formed its own theory info, further more it has drawn much attention in the field of image processing. Some excellent characteristic of wavelet is hard to completeness unify as the wavelet theory research proceeds. Under the background, researcher put forward definition of multi-wavelet. Multi-wavelet not only keeps many advantages of scalar wavelet, but also avoids disadvantages of scalar wavelet. And it can satisfy with many important characteristic, such as smooth, short-support, symmetry. In the course of image processing, these characteristic benefit image compression and reproduction. Which makes multi-wavelet drawn more and more attention in the field of image processing. Iris identification technology is one of biological identification technology. It can recognise identity of authorization person adopting physiological or action characteristic of the body itself, avoids disadvantage of traditional identity recognition, and it named as new technology in twenty-one century, is regarded as biological technology becoming mainstream in the future. Thereinafter, five parts of content are researched in this paper: The first section, the theory of scalar wavelet and multi-wavelet, iris identification and image processing are introduced. The second section, the basic theory of scalar wavelet analysis is briefly introduced, the relational theory of multi-wavelet is detailed explained, which includes the background, definition, MRA and scale function of multi-wavelet. Some mathematical characteristic is discussed, the way of matrix extension is used to construct multi-wavelet. The third section, iris identification system and iris identification technology are introduced. Iris identification system includes lamp-house, CCD, image analysis system (computer). Rationale of iris identification is that it is a numeral texture image processing and identification system. Whose technology theory read as follows:Nowadays, iris identification technology includes four steps: iris image capture, image pre-processing, iris feature capture, matching and identification. Iris image is captured by special CCD. In the process of image pre-processing, confirming the inside and outside boundary is firstly done, and then the iris images are normalized into rectangular textures. Multi-wavelet is used in the process of picking up iris feature, and then the image is compressed and coding. Finally, the image and stylebook in swatch-base are compared, and drawing the conclusion.
