Predictive control is a new type of computer algorithm appeared in the late 1970, and it is one of the typical advanced process control algorithms.The paper surveys predictive control of complicated objects with large time-delay, strong coupling, and nonlinear characteristic. The control strategies are achieved through the AE2000A typical process equipment and the PROFIBUS PLC control equipment of the automatic graduate laboratory. The main contents and conclusions are summarized as follows:1. The general principle of predictive control method is introduced systematically, and a survey on the development and application of predictive control method in industry field is presented.2. The object structure, sensor, and the actuator of the AE2000A typical process equipment are introduced, and the network structure and basic control module of the Siemens PROFIBUS host computer control system are discussed. The programming software-STEP 7 and the configuration software-WINCC software are introduced.3. Time-delay Dynamic Matrix Control strategy is used to the pure time-delay plate-tube aimed at its large time-delay characteristic, set-point tracing and anti-disturbance experiments are implemented, and a better control behavior is achieved comparing to the traditional PID control.4.
