Software component technology is the key technology of supporting the software reuse, in the process of the software development based on component, component library plays a key role. To retrieve and extract the most satisfying component among the library of components is important in component library management system. The retrieval efficiency of the component library not only includes the retrieval of the component itself, but also includes the understanding of the component. The general component retrieval system provides descriptive information about understanding the component simply, but seldom provides information about respect of reused actually. Data mining technology provides a feasible approach to above problem. In the paper, how to use the application of classification method decision-tree-based to the component reuse was discussed. Firstly, the theory of software component reuse and data mining were discussed, we laid stress upon the retrieval of software component and the classification method decision-tree-based. On the basis of the theory, in accordance with the limitation of research on traditional software component reuse retrieval, we proposed the idea to apply data mining technology to the retrieval of software component reuse, provided auxiliary decision support to the relevant personnel of the component library. Secondly, in accordance with actual application, built an applied model of software component retrieval management by data mining technology, and analyzed the execution step of the applied model. Lastly, the model had been verified through experiment, thus the feasibility and validity of this strategy had been verified.
