In the field of 3D cartoon, the technology of cartoon 3D Character Sculpture has become an important factor of affecting the cost and the efficiency of cartoon producing. It's also becoming restrict the development of cartoon industry as a bottleneck. Thus, it's necessary to develop and improve the technology of cartoon 3D Character Sculpture. The technology of cartoon 3D Character Sculpture, such as surface model, hiberarchy model and base bones, all have some deficiencies. Base on my work experience, I study the domestic and foreign technologies of cartoon 3D Character Sculpture , and also research the technology of model-structure and model-deformability from the two demention of principle and method. Spherel-based model uses both spherel-hiberarchy and spherel-reseau in model-structure, and uses both physical-deformability and attractile-spherel-deformability, except for bone-deformability in model-deformability. Spherel-based model contains the way of model-designing. Constructing a spherel-based model is called spherel-based model-desining. Model-desining realizes transformation from geometry-based modeling to character-based and subject-based modeling. It provides "paintbrush" tools based on physical-deformability. Model-designers needn't think anything about geometry.This paper has some innovation not only in theory but also in practice. In theory, the innovation of this paper is the notion of spherel-based model, which is unification of the technologies of model-structure, model-deformability and model-designing. It can realize the structural model-designing, which needn't make it structural after it has been built as past. The spherel-based model-desining, as a structural model-designing, develops current present model-desinings, for it not only improves the speed of model-designing, but also give the model "life" , that is to say that a model once built can be used through the whole story of cartoon. In practice, spherel-based model and model-designing, also relizes the significant transformation of the way of cartoon producing: from facing frames and pictures way to facing cartoon elements,which contain background, lignts, music and characters. It changes linearity and once-done way of trational cartoon producing and gives it new traits of cycle and iteration. It improves the efficiency and reduce the cost of cartoon producing. It improves the level of automatization and reduces handwork.
