Based on IN CS 1-4 series (released by ITU-T) and the Intelligent Network Technology System (released and adopted domestically), the article includes such concepts as China intelligent network (i.e. IN), Network organizational structure and also, available IN business applications. Having studied the organizational structure of the Anhui provincial telecom network, and using domestic/international IN planning requirements and net-establishing principle as references, the author comes up with a detailed analysis of all currently available business applications through the Anhui provincial IN, as well as its overall structure and scale of construction. By way of conclusion, the author presents her suggestions on the ramifications and the future directions for further development, be it the nation-wide (backbone) IN or the provincial IN. On the other hand, there is the need for network optimization, to tackle problems that may occur to a running IN. Take Shanghai Bell S1240 Automatic Data-exchange Server as an example. First, the author gives a detailed analysis of IN-SSP call-making process; then, there are her network optimization suggestions that have been advanced of an in-operation IN from different angles, such as analyzing calls made, controlling calls to be made, contributing to call-making effectiveness through the choice of path to be used; further, she goes on to deal with new functions available of the Shanghai Bell Automatic Data-exchanged Server, such as the so-called "black-list/white-list" function, the call-maker identification function, the intra-network settlement and traffic management function. With the said functions in use, the profitability of an intelligent network (IN) shall improve dramatically.
