Skin deformation of 3D virtual human is one of the hottest topics in the field ofvirtual human. In this paper, a real-time skin deformation method is presented, whichis based on the general cross-sectional contour method. Firstly, we refine the generalcross-sectional contour method with three measures,based on which generalcross-sectional contours were perfectly created according to the different features ondifferent parts of human body. And then we implemented a real-time skin deformationmethod on the whole skin surface of human body. Secondly, we used an interpolationmethod to improve the visual effect of the deformation, especially on the joints withpossible great and complex rotation, such as shoulder and hip. The new method candrive arbitrary skin grid of virtual human and can achieve better deformation result inany motion state.
