The real-time multimedia communication technology was the outcome that combined the technology of multimedia computer and modern communications. It be a important part of the technology of multimedia communications and quickly developed with the development of the technology of modem network. Through the technology of multimedia and network communication the technology offered a circumstance of discuss problem and cooperate each other for the people in different place. It integrated interaction of the computer and distribution of the communication and reality. It was very useful and helped for the people.It was the dominating to implement the technology of the real-time multimedia communication in use of pure software. To implement with it the people must consider the usability and also the universality of the system, it must make the user good use of it who in different platforms and operate simply, otherwise the people consider the cost of the work and expansibility of the system. The thesis offered model of real-time multimedia communication and implemented a real-time multimedia framework in Java. It based with the protocol of H.323 and integrated the technology of Java telephony API and Java Multimedia Framework. To be the standard of ITU-T the H.323 protocol has been developed many years and has been powerfully, most of the real-time multimedia communication use of it now. The thesis first introduced the status and trend of the videoconference system, then recommended the series of H.323 protocols of the ITU-T, including H.323 protocol, H.225.0 call signaling protocol, H.245 multimedia control protocol and real-time Transport protocol / RTP control protocol and also recommended the SIP protocol which was the next generation technology of videoconference. Then introduced and analyzed the technology of Java telephony API and Java Multimedia Framework. The thesis designed and implemented a videoconference protocol stack which based on H.323 protocol and integrated JMF technology, It used JTAPI to be the interface of the system and control it though a multimedia management layer .
