The IP network only offers a best-effort service, it does not offer any guarantee ofQoS at present, so it is not suitable for real-time video transmission. So newtechnologies and methods are adopted to guarantee the QoS of real-time videotransmission. It has been a challenge to transfer real-time video on Internet.The thesis mainly studies and discusses Real-time video transmission technology.In this thesis, the solution of video transmission and video server of the Video Monitorwith VOD System is proposed firstly. The solution of video transmission includes theselection of IP network transmission protocols, the video sender, the video receiver.The solution of the video server includes user management, video living broadcastservice and video storage. Then the main technologies used in the video transmissionare been analyzed. These technologies include the synchronizing method based on time,the congestion control under single-cast, the packet-loss recovery and its strategy basedon the side of sender or receiver, RTP/RTCP protocol and RTSP protocol. At last,based on the above technologies and methods, the components of video transmissionand video server in the Video Monitor with VOD System are designed andimplemented.
